19 mar 2021 · It has wireless CarPlay and wired Android Auto support but it is unknown if AA also works wireless. BimmerTech is selling their MMI Prime box for 649$. While the price tag is high-end, it looks identical to the other units but does not support wireless Android Auto (only wired).

2015 BMW 328i [0.00] Review: $250 Wireless CarPlay retrofit for NBT. In an effort to avoid spending $650 for the bimmertech carplay mmi prime retrofit. I searched around aliexpress and found this unit for ~ $250 shipped (took about 1 week to arrive).
Comes complete with everything needed to upgrade your existing CIC/NBT system to provide CarPlay/Android Auto functionality. It's probably about 4 months old. It's the one shown in the link below.
I have it, works great. The only thing I don’t do is use the aux audio source to play music through the CarPlay box, the audio quality is horrible. So I suggest using the iDrive bluetooth with the CarPlay active.
27 sie 2020 · You can switch between the iDrive and aftermarket system pretty quickly. You start the car, it will show the original iDrive, and if you've setup the CarPlay before, it will automatically switch to CarPlay if your phone is in range and the WiFi and BT are on, no problem at all.

I know there is the option for wireless CarPlay using the wireless charging pad. I’m curious if you can plug an iPhone in via usb and use CarPlay and charging via that setup or only through wireless.
