12 kwi 2024 · There are many ways to date old Ball mason jars, and one of the easiest is to look at the logo. Along with the logo, you can sometimes use the color, size, and other distinguishing marks to help date a mason jar.
One way to date Mason jars is by looking at the jar’s logo. If the logo is embossed on the jar, that means it was made after 1858. If the logo is printed on the jar, that means it was made after 1901. So, if you see a Mason jar with an embossed logo, you can be pretty sure that it’s at least 158 years old!
24 mar 2018 · How to Date a Ball Jar Using the Logo. The logo imprinted on each jar is, by far, the easiest and fastest way to determine the approximate age your Ball mason jar. I’ve created a pinnable reference guide that details all of the primary logos and their manufacturing dates.
You can date most ball jars from the early 1900s up to about 1960 by looking at the logo. The earliest logos were on the side of the jar and are called “cursive script” or “ball in a shield” logos. Jars with these logos are rare and highly sought after by collectors.
