4-H is the youth development program of our Nation's Cooperative Extension System and USDA. 4-H.org is maintained by National 4-H Council as part of our mission as an independent, private-sector partner to the Cooperative Extension System.
4-H has a rich history of being a leader in positive youth development experiences for more than a century. The tie with land-grant universities and the U.S. Department of Agriculture assures a research and science base to the program.
We develop ways to engage youth within their communities, schools, organizations, peer groups, and families in ways that develop and enhance their strengths. The division works through federal, state, local and non-profit partnerships to help youth foster positive relationships and build leadership strengths.
