A Wisconsin state forest is an area of forest in the U.S. state of Wisconsin managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources 's Division of Forestry. They are managed for outdoor recreation, watershed and habitat preservation, and sustainable forestry.
The Chequamegon National Forest comprises three units in the north-central part of the state totaling 865,825 acres (3,503.87 km 2). In descending order of forestland area, it is located in parts of Bayfield, Ashland, Price, Sawyer, Taylor, and Vilas counties. Forest headquarters are in Park Falls.
The Division of Forestry administers programs that protect and sustain these forested lands throughout the state, combining technical and financial assistance, planning, research, technology, education and policy to help meet the many demands on the forest both today and for many years to come.

The USDA Forest Service manages the land for multiple uses including forestry, wildlife habitat, recreation, harvesting of forest products, fisheries, and wilderness and natural areas.
