The Death Row Inner-Communalist Vanguard Engagement (D.R.I.V.E.) consists of several male death row inmates from the Polunsky Unit. Through a variety of non-violent strategies, they have begun launching protests against the perceived bad conditions at Polunsky, in particular, and capital punishment, in general.
All male Texas death row prisoners are sent to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Polunsky unit (formerly known as the Terrell unit) in Livingston. Female offenders are sent to the Mountain View unit in Gatesville.
