West Jefferson High School, also known as WJHS, and West Jeff is a public high school located in Harvey in unincorporated Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States, just outside New Orleans. [2] It was founded in 1955.
As the Principal of West Jefferson High School, it is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to a new academic year filled with collaborative spirit, innovation, and a strong sense of community! This year, our theme is: “This is How We Roll…in THE VILLAGE.”
On the night of November 10, 1955 West Jefferson High School officially opened its doors and dedicated one of the largest high schools in Louisiana. In attendance were Mr. Loney J. Autin, president of the Louisiana State Board of Education, Mr. Shelby M. Jackson, Louisiana Superintendent of Education and many other distinguished guests.
We serve students on both banks of the Mississippi River. JP Schools is the largest district in Louisiana and the nation's 98th largest. With approximately 6,000 employees, JP Schools is one of the largest employers in Jefferson Parish. College and Career Readiness.
