A side’s score for a hole is the lower score of the two partners on that hole. It can be played as gross or net and as stroke play or match play.

Golf Format Explained. In a round of best ball golfers will be grouped as 2, 3 or 4-member teams and will compete together against the other teams in the field. Only one ball – and thus one score – counts per hole for each team and the team with the lowest total score for the round wins the tournament.
