The firewall has a setting (UnicastResponsesToMulticastBroadcastDisabled Property of the INetFwProfile Interface) which controls the behavior of the firewall and unicast responses to a broadcast (or multicast) UDP request. Make sure that your instance is configured to use a static port either default or custom while configuring firewall access through adding ports in exception list. If you need to use SQL Server Browser service, include UDP 1434 in exception list ; Include 1433 in exception list, if your instance is running on default port
29 sie 2009 · You will need to start browser service to resolve non-default instances. Additionally, opening UDP 1434 will allow resolution of the named instances by name instead of port, so you will not need to use the ports.
