Ephesians 1 is a grand declaration of the believer's spiritual blessings in Christ. Paul, the author, opens with a greeting to the Ephesians and swiftly moves to a magnificent doxology, praising God for the spiritual blessings we have received.
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

Chapter 1. This epistle was written when St. Paul was a prisoner at Rome. The design appears to be to strengthen the Ephesians in the faith of Christ, and to give exalted views of the love of God, and of the dignity and excellence of Christ, fortifying their minds against the scandal of the cross.
