7 lut 2023 · Most tape measures will have marks that go down to a 1/16 of an inch, but there are some measuring tapes that will even measure down to the 1/32. You’ll know which one you have because your measuring tape will either have 15 small lines between each large number or it will have 31.
Standard tape measures are marked in inches from the largest to the smallest. The largest markings on a tape measure are inches, followed by half-inch marks, quarter-inch marks, and one-eighth-inch markings. Tape measures can also have markings for stud intervals and roofing.
25 paź 2022 · You can easily read a tape measure by recognizing the whole inches and fractional markings. The middle mark indicates ½ inch, with ¼ and ¾ inches on either side. Smaller marks represent ⅛, 1/16, and 1/32 inch increments for precise measurements.

Reading a tape measure is a matter of interpreting the lengths of the perpendicular marks on the blade and determining if your measurement is aligning with a 1-inch, a 1/2-inch, a 1/4-inch, a 1/16-inch, or 1/32-inch markings.

Most tape measures have markings down to at least every 1/16″ but some go as low as every 1/32″. You can see in the image above that the tape on the top has tick marks for 1/16″ but the one on the bottom goes a step further and has tick marks every 1/32″.
