FOR OVER FORTY YEARS, SONOMA COUNTY WOMEN IN LAW HAS BEEN COMMITTED TO PROMOTING THE EDUCATION AND ADVANCEMENT OF WOMEN IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE LAW. STARTING IN THE MID 1970'S, A GROUP OF PREDOMINANTLY FEMALE LAWYERS AND LAW STUDENTS BEGAN TO MEET FOR BROWN-BAG LUNCHES IN THE SONOMA COUNTY LAW LIBRARY.
Deirdre is a Sonoma County native and the mother of six children, with extensive experience in dealing with mental health issues. She also serves on the Board Sonoma County Women in Law, and is the current Chair of the Sonoma County Family Law Steering Committee.
Hernandez Castillo was the President of Sonoma County Women in Law (2016) and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Sonoma County Bar Association since 2015. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with an emphasis in law and society, from the University of California, Davis.
Janessa McCune is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. Janessa is currently the Secretary of Sonoma County Women Law this year (2024) and has served on the Sonoma County Women in Law Board in varying positions since 2021.
Many Sonoma County women attorneys can be proud to claim “firsts.” But the most notable “first” goes to Luda Fulkerson Barham as the first woman attorney in the county. At age 23, Ms. Fulkerson likely was also one of the youngest to be admitted to the practice of law.
Ms. Carrillo is a former Board member and current member of Sonoma County Women in Law, a current member of the Sonoma County Bar Association, and a Member of the Criminal and Family Law Sections. Community Involvement
