Gene Siskel is our go-to movie theater in Chicago. They show a great variety of new indie films that have made their way along the film festival circuit and also playing retrospectives. Thematically, they do a great job grouping their film series.
Eugene Kal Siskel (January 26, 1946 – February 20, 1999) was an American film critic and journalist for the Chicago Tribune who co-hosted movie review television series alongside colleague Roger Ebert. [1] Siskel started writing for the Chicago Tribune in 1969, becoming its film critic soon after.
In addition to the theaters, which screen art, industrial, foreign, and classic films, the Siskel Center features the Sandor Family gallery of rotating photographic exhibits, concession stands, and a small cafe area which has become a popular place to meet before and after shows.
