14 mar 2024 · Shell plc (Shell) has published its first energy transition update since the launch of its Powering Progress strategy in 2021. At our Capital Markets Day in June 2023, we outlined how our strategy delivers more value with less emissions, emphasising the “more value” part.
Our energy transition update shows how we are delivering against our climate targets. As we focus on areas of competitive strength, we are investing $10-15 billion on low-carbon energy solutions between 2023 and the end of 2025.
Shell has once again met its climate targets while continuing to keep the energy flowing to households and businesses around the world. This report shows the progress we have made in implementing our energy transition strategy, as we work to become a net-zero emissions business by 2050.
The actions Shell takes over the coming years, and our progress against our short- and medium-term targets, will be crucial steps to ensure that we become a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050. In the first year of our Powering Progress strategy, we have laid the foundations for success.
Energy transition strategy. In 2021, we announced Powering Progress, our strategy to accelerate our transition to a net-zero emissions energy business, purposefully and profitably. Powering Progress aims to deliver value for our shareholders, for our customers and for wider society.
Shell LNG Outlook 2024. Global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) is estimated to rise by more than 50% by 2040, as industrial coal-to-gas switching gathers pace in China and South Asian and South-east Asian countries use more LNG to support their economic growth.
