More than 100 different agencies are working together to prevent and end homelessness in Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery counties, TX. The Way Home is the collective effort to prevent and end homelessness in the Houston region through permanent housing with supportive services.
Today, through the efforts of SEARCH and our partners in The Way Home, Houston has reduced homelessness by 64%, housed more than 25,000 individuals and families, and become a model for the rest of the nation in how to address this challenging humanitarian issue.
While the only way to cure homelessness is through housing, providing a home is just the first step on the path toward stability and self-sufficiency. Even after receiving a roof over their heads, many of our clients need ongoing help in order to stabilize their lives and maintain their housing.
