Student Code of Conduct Policy. 1. The ethos of The Gilberd School. We are proud that the overwhelming majority of our students demonstrate courtesy, good manners, positive and ambitious behaviour for learning and very high standards of personal presentation at all times.
The district’s code of conduct should be used as a tool to communicate principles and practices that go beyond consequences for misconduct and that establish a clear system for positive conduct and a positive school climate.
This policy aims to set and maintain standards of conduct that we expect all staff to follow. By creating this policy, we aim to ensure our school is an environment where everyone is safe, happy and treated with respect. Many of the principles in this code of conduct are based on the Teachers’ Standards.

The handbook contains the Student Code of Conduct (SCC), which sets forth clear expectations for responsible student behavior. The SSC also provides a transparent and restorative disciplinary process that addresses the root causes of behaviors, repairs harm, and promotes social and emotional development.
