Established by the Texas Legislature in 1995, SBEC aims to recognize public school educators as professionals and grant them the authority to govern the standards of their profession.
Your records are in the Educator Certification Online System (ECOS) based on your TEA ID number and your social security number, if you have one. If an employer or other entity is requesting a certificate number, you may wish to contact the entity for their requirements.
SBEC’s 15-member board oversees all aspects of the state’s standards-based licensure system to ensure that all Texas students have appropriately certified teachers.
