11 cze 2024 · MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Santee Cooper has announced its summer operating hours for the Pinopolis Navigational Lock on Lake Moultrie at Jefferies Hydroelectric Station. Effective immediately, the lock will be operated from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (or 30 minutes before sunset, whichever is earlier).

Santee Cooper’s Pinopolis Lock on Lake Moultrie, at the Jefferies Hydroelectric Station has a single lift of 75 ft. It is 180 feet long and 60 feet wide, passing vessels from Lake Moultrie to tide level in the Tailrace Canal.
The Pinopolis Lock at Santee Cooper's Jefferies Hydroelectric Station was the highest single-lift lock in the world at the time of its construction. Motorized boats between 10 and 150 feet can use the lock to be raised or lowered the 75-foot difference between the Tailrace Canal and Lake Moultrie.
Built in the 1940's, The Pinopolis Lock is the only connection for vessels and watercraft from Cooper River to Lake Moultrie of the Santee Reservoir System.
Up the Tailrace Canal in Moncks Corner is Santee Cooper’s Pinopolis lock and dam at the Jefferies Hydroelectric Station. The concrete and steel structure has held back the waters of Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie since the 1940s.
4 wrz 2018 · Visitors can travel from Lake Marion through the Diversion Canal to Lake Moultrie. At the end of Lake Moultrie lies the 75-foot high Pinopolis Lock which will lower boaters down to the Tailrace Canal which takes you to the Cooper River and on to Charleston.
