Though a bit off the beaten path, and a bit dated, Ruggles Mines can be a cool day of fun. This is a mine to explore for rocks and gems. Bring your own gear--bags to carry the rocks, hammers and chisels or even old screwdrivers; otherwise it will cost you a bit more than the entry fee.
