I finally found a little script (for XP only) at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm...which re-enabled the desktop icons and right-click context menu on the Desktop. The script is called "Enable/Disable Desktop Icons", and it worked like a charm.
I have no icons on my desktop, when I right click, nothing happens. I do have a task bar but when I go to start, then programs, it is empty. I tried to system restore but I does not work.
15 gru 2011 · My operating system is Windows XP and I have a Dell PC. It seems that the right click stopped working after the most recent windows update. Not sure about that but it hasn't worked and I cannot figure out how to get the menu to pop up on anything (webpage, microsoft office product etc.).

11 cze 2014 · My service laptop, running on XP for the moment, do not display any icon on the desktop nor allow to right click on the desktop. The desktop icons are instead located in the taskbar, I deleted the registry key : HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Policies/explorer/NoDesktop.
