Am 7. März 1980 konnte Kürten das Friedensmuseum Brücke von Remagen eröffnen. Mehr als 500.000 Besucher sahen bis 2002 das mit einfachsten Mitteln gestaltete Museum. 2003 wurde die Ausstellung komplett überarbeitet und mittlerweile wurde das Museum von über 800.000 Besuchern besichtigt.
