Regularly inspecting your turtle’s shell can help identify any signs of shell rot or injuries. Shell rot, caused by bacterial or fungal infections, can lead to severe damage if left untreated.
So if your red eared slider has a shell length of 3 inches, the tank should be able to hold at least 30 gallons. While the rule is quite simple to follow, it’s actually quite easy to screw things up.
