7 maj 2020 · The Rankin House was built for James Rankin, a planter and owner of The Rankin Hotel (10th Street and Broadway), who immigrated to Columbus from Ayrshire in Scotland. Work on this mansion was started prior to the Civil War but was not completed until the war ended.
30 kwi 2011 · In 1898, the Rankin House, valued at $18,500, was the finest home in Columbus. After the Civil War, Mr. Rankin returned to Scotland and turned the home over to his eldest child, Mrs. Emma Jane Rankin Lockhart.
