The city is governed by a seven-member city council. Regular municipal elections are held on a Tuesday after the first Monday in November in even-numbered years. Councilmembers serve four-year terms, and the mayor is the presiding councilmember, elected at-large.

20 gru 2023 · 57.8% of voters feel Mayor Sandoval has not addressed important issues such as economic development, city budget management, infrastructure improvements, along with social equity and inclusion. While 20.8% voiced their confidence in the Mayor, but 20.1% said they were unsure.
City of Pomona Council members are elected for over-lapping four-year terms. This election cycle (2024), Council seats in districts 1, 4, and 6 are open, as well as the Mayoral seat. Each Council member is nominated by and represents the district in which they live.
