Athletics was the original sport at the first Olympics back in 776 BC where the only event held was the stadium-length foot race or "stade". The earliest recorded win was at these games in the stade race.
Panathinaikos Athletic Club (Greek: Παναθηναϊκός Αθλητικός Όμιλος) is a greek sports club mostly known for his football department. Football in Greece, made it's appearance in about 1890 but there was no official championship since it was considered as a sport for the low class people.
Since then, equestrian sports have been developing steadily in the country and are considered one of the rising sports, popular with the public and, in particular, young people. New clubs are founded every year, new members enroll and new riders appear in the competitive circuit.
