A visual field test is an eye examination that detects dysfunction in central and peripheral vision. Learn about different types of perimetry, such as Goldmann, tangent screen, automated, microperimetry, and kinetic perimetry.
Here, we’ll only talk about the Humphrey visual field perimeter, which is used for 99% of visual field tests. It’s an automated, static perimeter (unlike Goldmann kinetic perimetry which requires a human operator, and uses a moving target).
4 kwi 2023 · A visual field test measures your peripheral vision, or how well you can see above, below and to the sides of something you’re looking at. It’s also called a perimetry test. Visual field testing is important for many conditions, including glaucoma.
23 kwi 2024 · It plays a pivotal role in the diagnosis, management, and prognosis of retinal and neurological diseases. This review summarizes each of the different VF tests and perimetric methods, including the advantages and disadvantages and adherence to the desired standard diagnostic criteria.
28 sie 2019 · Kinetic perimetry: Testing that involves moving a test object of the same size and brightness from a non-seeing to a seeing area. Static perimetry: Testing that involves increasing the brightness of a test object until the patient can see the object in that specific area.
