Pacific Seacraft Orion 27 is a 30′ 10″ / 9.4 m monohull sailboat designed by Henry Morschadt and built by Pacific Seacraft between 1979 and 1993.
I spend a lot of time looking at boats for sale (on the docks and online), and came across this one, a 1980 Pacific Seacraft Orion 27. I love the looks of it, it's in my budget, the size is right (I'm a minimalist), it appears to be very well maintained and upgraded, and my gut says yes.
18 kwi 2009 · More so than more modern IP designs, the 27 is essentially a catboat with a wide beam carried all the way aft. For liveability, the IP is the clear winner. For sailing performance and offshore ability, the Orion is an equally clear winner with its moderate beam, tapered ends, and deeper draft.

3 kwi 2006 · I too am a little biased since I own a Orion 27, but when I was looking for my Pacific Seacraft sailboat I checked out used Flickas, Dana24s, and PS31s. I am a big guy and the Orion 27 fit the best. The Flicka lacked 6'+ headroom, and the Head in the Dana24 and PS31 was small, and the doorway narrow.
