19 mar 2024 · I am using an old HP laptop running Windows 10. I have searched and tried everything I’ve found, I cannot get McAfee off my computer. It’s constantly running, taking up memory and disk space, and ending the task in task manager does nothing. My computer is already using Windows Defender, bur McAfee just. Won’t. Close.
The main process name is McAfee Management Service and the process is McAfee Service Controller. They are in C:\\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\SystemCore. The applications are: mfeaaca.dll, mfehida.dll, mfemms.exe, mfestwa.dll. When I try to stop McAfee Management Service in Task manager it ignores the request and carries on running.

In Windows 11 in S Mode, Defender runs in the background and protects your PC, there is no method to perform manual scans, I think they do that because in S Mode, you can only install verified apps from the Microsoft Store, and therefore your PC is more secure, because 3rd party software cannot be installed in S Mode.
22 lip 2022 · First check to ensure McAfee trial is not installed on your PC or Start Menu, many times they pre-install that on a new pc, if it is there, uninstall it. 2 If that is not installed, then that popup you are seeing, is that the bottom right of your screen in the notification area? If it is, look at that notification, is there a browser listed?
