Route map: U.S. Route 80 or U.S. Highway 80 (US 80) is a major east–west United States Numbered Highway in the Southern United States, much of which was once part of the early auto trail known as the Dixie Overland Highway.
I-80 is one of the Big 5 east-to-west interstates (I-90, I-70, I-40 and I-10). Its eastern end is in the Big Apple - New York City; - and its western end is in the City by the Bay - San Francisco. It is a true east-to-west interstate.

I-80 enters Nebraska west of Bushnell. The western portion of I-80 in Nebraska runs very close to the state of Colorado, without entering the state. The intersection of I-76 and I-80 is visible from the Colorado–Nebraska state line.
Interstate 80 connects two major US cities—San Francisco and Teaneck, New Jersey, right outside New York City—making it a popular and well-traveled route. Though its endpoints are two of the country's coolest destinations, you should not zoom through the middle.
