Federal law requires that every employer who recruits, refers for a fee, or hires an individual for employment in the U.S. must complete Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. Form I-9 Requirements. As of May 1, 2020 you can only use Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, with the 10/21/2019 revision date for all new hires and reverifications. Employers are not required to have Forms I-9 for employees hired on or before November 6, 1986.
