Renamed in 2009, the organization was established in 1983 by police chiefs whose goal was to foster a meaningful exchange of ideas through open discussion, research and evaluation of critical law enforcement issues.
The Iowa Police Executive Forum launched in 1983 and later the organization renamed itself in 2009 as the Iowa Police Chiefs Association to better represent its membership. The following list identifies our past presidents, all police chiefs, and their city of employment during their tenure.
We are very proud to have been known as the Iowa Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers Assn. for the past 104 years. The selection of our new name really represents who we are, Certified Peace Officers in Iowa from all branches of Law Enforcement.
The Iowa Chiefs and Peace Officers Association has been serving Iowa Law Enforcement since 1908, we are now known as the Iowa Peace Officers Assn.
