The Heidelberg Mountain Railway (German: Heidelberger Bergbahn) is a two-section funicular railway in the city of Heidelberg, Germany. The first section runs from a lower station at Kornmarkt in Heidelberg's Altstadt, via an intermediate station at Heidelberg Castle, to an upper station at Molkenkur.
You need the panoramic ticket to get to the very top. The first part is an electric modern funicular which takes you to the castle. You can get off and explore the grounds which is beautiful. You can then board a second carriage which takes you to the mid way point to board a traditional wooden carriage.
