Before Jesus returns to Earth in glory, an evil leader will direct humanity into a massive rebellion against God and persecution of the Jewish people. This time of Tribulation will conclude when Jesus Himself visibly breaks into human history and returns “with power and great glory” (Mt. 24:30).
It appears that Christ is telling us how it will happen when He sits on His throne to judge the nations. Jesus will tell those on the right, “Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”
All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

He will smite the nations and tread the “wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty” (vs. 15). The rebellion of man will be put down with an awful slaughter of man’s defiant armies.
