Giant Rock is a large freestanding boulder in the Mojave Desert near Landers, California, that covers 5,800 square feet of ground and is seven stories high. Giant Rock is purported to be the largest free standing boulder in the world.
Sand road only so make sure you get specific directions and stay on the "main" road. 4WD good but not necessary. Drive as far as you can beyond the rock and walk up the "quartz hill", a vein of quartz running through the granite, and the only thing like it I have ever seen.
