Georgetown County Fire EMS. Founded in 1982, with roots tracing back to 1976, Georgetown County Fire EMS is built on a legacy of dedication and service. In 2005, we united two departments to create a comprehensive emergency response team that spans our beautiful coastal community.
Fire Chief Chief Falkenhagen has more than three decades of fire and EMS experience, having previously served as a District Chief with Horry County Fire Department, EMS Supervisor for Georgetown County EMS, and most recently as a company officer with Georgetown County Fire-EMS.
EMS operates from six locations and responds to approximately 5,000 calls per year. In 2008, the department added two 1000-gallon pumpers and two 2000-gallon tankers. Currently, Georgetown County Fire/EMS is staffed with career personnel working in three 24-hour shifts.
