Stick with the tilt-turn style windows if you want good performance. For the price of a good vinyl window locally you can get a thermally broken aluminum window with triple glazing, tempered glass, low-e, and argon fill. You want the best U Value that you can afford installed correctly.
Super high-end windows may have an R value of around 10. Compare that to the adjacent wall that's going to be 23 or higher. A good vinyl window with double pane, lo-e coatings and a superspacer and an R value of around 4-5, will be 50% as efficient and cost 1/10 the price.
Just finished our "pretty good house" in zone 5a, with a final ach50 of 0.4, and I love our Vetta windows from Canada (made in Poland though). We did the aluminum clad wood, elite 92, which is a good price/performance ratio in my opinion. Also, they have doors.
