Forsyth County (/ foʊrˈsaɪθ / fohr-SYTH) [1][2] is a county located in the northwest Piedmont of the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 382,590, [3] making it the fourth-most populous county in North Carolina. Its county seat is Winston-Salem. [4]
Forsyth County, located in North Carolina's Piedmont region, was formed from Stokes County in 1849 and took its name from Col. Benjamin Forsyth, a state legislator who fought and died in the War of 1812.
