15 cze 2021 · "Clean the dust" would mean picking up the dust, and then washing it (the dust, not the dusty furniture). Nobody does that. You clean furniture. You clean floors. You clean things that are supposed to be there. If the furniture has no dirt or stains on it (just a little dust), that cleaning is "dusting".
29 paź 2009 · reopening this thread because I would love an idiomatic expression for speck of dust in the sense of absolutely unimportant, tiny. The sentence is: I was everything and now I am a speck of dust. Context: a baby is totally at home in the world because it is his, so to speak, whereas the adult has lost that ease and feels insignificant. Thanks.
