21 lis 2011 · Simply search for "read contents of index.dat": https://www.google.com/search?q=read+contents+of+index.dat. Like @ultrasawblade says, most cleaner software (CCleaner, Cleanup, etc) remove the index.dat files.
4 kwi 2013 · Forget all the noise about downloading Unlocker, FIleAssasin, ETC. Best way to do it is through the command prompt. And viola, it removed the .DAT files and I was able to manually delete the Window.old folder. Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site.
22 cze 2010 · Type del index.dat /s and press enter. This will delete all the files named index.dat permanently. On normal boot up, this will be created again but blank until you start browsing again.
Internet Explorer stores history, cache and cookies in index.dat file which cannot be easily edited nor deleted because it is locked. Here is how you can view the contents in index.dat file and allowing you to selectively delete the entries.
11 sie 2006 · There are a few tools online available to delete this file but the easiest way I found to delete this file is to replace it with another file. I.e. Make a new text file, name it as index.dat and save it.
just go to the root (c:) by typing CD\ then type del index.dat /s then enter. and all the files names index dat in your computer will be deleted permanently.
