Craters of the Moon is in south-central Idaho, midway between Boise and Yellowstone National Park. The lava field reaches southeastward from the Pioneer Mountains. Combined U.S. Highway 20 – 26 – 93 cuts through the northwestern part of the monument and provides access to it.
Craters of the Moon offers countless opportunities for hiking, camping, cross-country skiing, wildlife viewing and backcountry travel. For casual travelers the seven-mile Loop Road and trails in the National Park Service Monument and Preserve provide easy access to this weird and scenic landscape.
2 cze 2022 · Craters of the Moon's visitor center and loop road are located on U.S. Highway 20/26/93. The park entrance is 24 miles northeast of Carey, Idaho and 18 miles southwest of Arco, Idaho. Watch for signs on the highway marking the park boundary and at the turn onto the park road.
