The RMIT paper investigates crane-related fatalities in order to find the upstream causation of such accidents. The National Coroners’ Information System (NCIS) database was searched to identify fatal accidents in the construction industry involving the use of a crane.

In October 2023, a worker suffered serious leg and foot injuries after being struck by a gantry crane wheel. Initial enquiries indicate he was using a jackhammer close to the crane’s rail system when the crane began operating and one of its wheels struck him.
28 lut 2023 · Clark Cranes was convicted and fined over the death of a worker at a Box Hill building site. Shaun Burns died and another worker was left a paraplegic when a large container of concrete fell on them. The mechanism holding the container was not checked before use.

Between 2003 and 2015, 47 Australian workers were killed in incidents involving cranes (SafeWork Australia, 2016), and on average, 240 serious injury claims arise from crane safety incidents every year (SafeWork Australia, 2019).
