The Police Department performs general law enforcement duties, and patrols an assigned area for the protection of lives and property and the enforcement of laws and ordinances over which the Police Department has jurisdiction.

Uniformed Public Safety Officers patrol the properties of the town, both on foot and in patrol vehicles. Officers are trained in first aid and traffic control. The Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Patrol. The largest of the divisions, The responsibility of the Patrol Division is that of primary emergency responder. The members of the Patrol Division operate marked police patrol vehicles and are on duty seven days a week, twenty four hours a day.
