The Office of the City Clerk has launched a new, and exciting, program for all of Chicago’s residents – the Chicago CityKey. The Chicago CityKey is an optional, valid, government-issued ID card offered to all Chicago residents that will unlock many of the great things our City has to offer.
To obtain an Illinois Driver's License you must: Visit a Secretary of State facility, show required identification documents and have your photo taken. Surrender all valid out-of-state licenses, state ID cards, instruction permits and commercial driver's licenses. Pay the appropriate fee.
The CityKey is an optional, valid, government-issued photo identification card available to all Chicago residents regardless of a resident's age, housing status, criminal record, immigration status, or gender identity.
The Chicago CityKey is FREE! We do not charge for an appointment. To apply for a CityKey ID, you must now schedule an appointment using the CityKey appointment system for a printing event by following the simple steps in our video below:
