It is the incorporated part of a region called "Chattahoochee Hill Country", an area encompassing approximately 60,000 acres (240 km 2) southwest of Atlanta, bordered on the northwest side by the Chattahoochee River.
With over 37,000 acres of farmland, preserved greenspace, and large residential lots, the City of Chattahoochee is a park unto itself. Noted for its natural beauty and rural charter, the Georgia Scenic Byways program designated a 29-mile loop around Chatt Hills as its first scenic byway in 1998.
