One meaning of cinch is "something easy to accomplish" (it's a cinch). One meaning of pinch (there are several ...

  2. 9 kwi 2023 · Fasten is a more general term. You can use it with all kinds of objects: a belt, a gate, buttons, a latch, rope. You can fasten a label to a child’s shirt with a safety pin etc. The word basically means to attach or “make fast” in more archaic terms, as in “make safe and secure”. Tighten is more specifically about making something ...

'Flask' tends to be more specific in usage. For instance, containers designed for portability, like, as mentioned, the drinking flask for carrying alcholic spirits in after they have ...

  8. 16 lip 2014 · Aug 1, 2014. #8. My translation would be "Not at all", which is highly formal and which I hardly ever use in daily conversation. 举手之劳, 何足挂齿 falls exactly in that category: a highly formal expression that people seldom use in real life as a response to "thank you". R.

  9. 10 mar 2013 · In Québec, y a rien là does indeed mean there's nothing to it, it's a cinch/easily done/child's play in this context. I didn't know people in Lyon said that; unless your friend is a French Canadian who happens to live there? Il nous faudrait l'avis d'un Lyonnais ou d'une Lyonnaise.
