What are your rights in pregnancy and childbirth? It’s simple. Everyone has a right to receive safe and appropriate maternity care. Every woman and birthing person has a right to maternity care that respects their fundamental human dignity. Everyone has a right to privacy and confidentiality.
Birth certificates, registering a death, marriage, family history and correcting certificates
Mothers, fathers, partners and adoptive parents are entitled to a range of paternity, maternity or adoption leave and pay and shared parental leave rights, both before and after birth or adoption. This factsheet introduces these main rights.
