A record low water level occurred in late 1988, as a decade-long drought dropped the lake to 685.7 feet (209.0 m), over eight feet below normal. The drought ended with heavy rainfall in the spring of 1989, and over the next 11 months the lake reached record high levels on two occasions.

The Authority's main source of water is Benbrook Lake managed by the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD). The Authority currently has access to 16,457 acre-feet of this reservoir. Lake water is treated at the BWA Water Treatment Plant with treatment capacity of 12 million gallons per day (MGD).

18 maj 2022 · Water that is available after serving six water treatment plants along the pipeline will flow into Lake Arlington, Benbrook Lake and Eagle Mountain Lake. This allows TRWD to reduce its reliance on Lake Bridgeport for supply.
