Bakersfield Adult School (BAS): Serving since 1917, we've impacted over 500,000 adult students. Whether you're improving your English skills, exploring U.S. history, enhancing employability, or completing high school, we're here to help.
Bakersfield Adult School is the largest provider of adult education programs in the Southern San Joaquin Valley and one of the largest adult schools in the entire state of California. We currently serve approximately 12,000 adult learners in the greater Bakersfield area annually.
For over a century, Bakersfield Adult School (BAS) has been enriching the lives of adult students, providing them with opportunities for personal and professional growth. Established in 1917, BAS classes were offered in the basement of Kern Union High School, now known as Bakersfield High School.
The Bakersfield Adult School’s Career Resource Department is part of the Kern High School District. We provide education and youth development experiences for in-school youth, ages 16-18 and out-of-school young adults, ages 18-24.
