Operating mainly Boeing 717s and 737s, the airline would shuttle passengers around the US Midwest and East Coast. Operating for 21 years, AirTran ceased operations in 2014. Why doesn't the airline still exist today?
Just flew AirTran BWI-MIA roundtrip Business Class. Good price, flights on time, comfortable seats, FAs did an excellent job and pilot even stood up in front of plane before take-off to welcome everyone. I will travel AirTran again.
26 sty 2007 · We took a chance and tried Airtran Airways' nonstop flight from Canton/Akron to Boston for $134/ea. By far the least expensive AND no layovers. Flight to Boston went fine.

Southwest CEO Gary Kelly and other executives led a farewell event at the Atlanta airport. The trip, dubbed Flight 1, was a nod to the airline’s first flight in 1993, when it was known as ValuJet.
