28 mar 2017 · By the time the die is set enough to create good repeatability in powder drops, the die starts to flare too much. Dillon has a specific socom powder funnel. Worth it.

4 mar 2023 · I built a .458 Socom. I would like to shoot my cast lead bullets. This requires a flared case. I have the Lee powder through die. I have a Dillon 550 with a ,223 conversion. I would like to use the lee die on the dillon but that presents a problem with the Dillon powder measure.

These Redding dies work properly on another brand press with a different shellholder. Quick and dirty Solution? Insert an automotive feeler gauge under the case then run it through the resizing operation. select the feeler gauge thickness to set to your desired headspace (sitting below face of case gauge)

26 sty 2022 · Reloading the 458 isn’t hard but you need a solid single stage press like the RCBS Rock Chucker or a good progressive press like the Dillon 750. A cheap Lee progressive press will struggle. The trickiest part of the 458 is setting the crimp.
