The odd saga of this .30-caliber: The .30 T/C is essentially a .308 Win. shortened with a sharper shoulder angle. Despite less capacity, it exceeded the .308's performance through light magnum technology.
The .30 T/C is a short action (.308 length), rimless rifle cartridge that was developed for Thompson/Center by Hornady. It is a true .30 caliber cartridge with a case capacity slightly less than the .308 Winchester, which must make it very similar in size to Hornady's equally new, but rimmed, .308 Marlin Express.
In spite of having a relatively small case capacity, it offers ballistics that approach the .308 Winchester and .30-06 with 130- through 190-grain bullets. Like many other "short cartridge" developments, the .30 T/C offers outstanding accuracy, while producing unusually low extreme spreads.

In the Pro Hunter platform with the Flex Tech stock—which claims to reduce felt recoil as much as 41 percent—it feels more like a .243 Winchester.
